Class IV Regains Strength In Evolving Market

After three consecutive months of falling milk prices in Class IV, the markets rebounded for a $1.58 per hundredweight (cwt) price improvement in September, which led to a class price of $18.94 per cwt as reported in the September USDA Announcement of Class and Component Prices report released Sept. 30.

At the same time, Class III stumbled once again after a blip of rallying prices last month. The result was a class price of $16.04 per cwt, bringing the year-to-date average of the Class III milk price to $15.96 per cwt. Class II also underperformed, down $1.11 per cwt from August for a milk price of $17.60 per cwt in September.
